What
classes do you offer?
-
Wholehog
(Wholehog 3, RoadHog, Full Boar, iPC) programming
- grandMA programming
- Media Servers: Catalyst v4, DL.2/DL.3/Axon
- Are these the same
classes I can get
through the manufacturer?
-
No.
While I have experience giving training as an employee of
multiple manufacturers/distributors, these are not the same classes.
My style is more about helping trainees to apply the console
or
server to meet their specific needs. If you're looking for
more
of an introductory class in a group environment, I'd highly encourage
you to contact the manufacturer and sign up for one of their
seminars.
- Where are the classes
offered?
Classes
are "on-site." This means at your theatre, club, lighting
shop, church, etc.
-
Do
I need to provide the
gear? What do I need?
Yes:
client provides all gear. Exact gear depends on the class and the
number of trainees.
Wholehog
Seminars: 1 console for every
2 people in the class. Console can be a Wholehog 3, Roadhog, Roadhog
Full Boar, iPC or Hog3PC (in case of PC: client must have Playback and
Programming Wing + Widget). For control: house plot fixtures or
visualizer (ESP Vision, WYG, etc.)
grandMA
Seminars: 1 console for every
2 people in the class. Console can be grandMA fullsize, light,
ultralite, or pico. For control: house plot fixtures or grandMA 3D
DL.2/DL.3/Axon
Seminars: Exact amount of
gear depends on your training goals. For DL.2/DL.3, a bare minimum of 2
fixtures is necessary. Client will also need to provide a console
(grandMA or Hog series recommended)
Catalyst
Seminars: Catalyst System
running v4 Software. While a console is not necessary to run Catalyst,
if you will be controlling the media server via DMX, client will need
to provide DMX or Artnet console. If console does not output ArtNet,
you will need to provide either a DMX->Artnet interface or CIB
(Catalyst Interface Box).
- Can't you just come to my
house and teach me with the offline editor?
No.
-
How long is a session?
Console
classes with my set syllabus are normally 2 days long. Depending upon
clients’ experience, you may choose to hold a single day
session or a longer session. Normally, in shorter sessions, the client
has particular areas of training to focus on. I’m happy to
tailor the session to your needs.
One training day is 8 hours with a lunch or dinner break plus 15 minute
break. Training schedule is at the mutual discretion of client and
trainer. In other words – I want to work with the schedule
that works best for your trainees.
- How many people can be in
a class?
Ideally-
there should be 2 people per console and not more than 4 in the class.
I will allow for more, but keep in mind that the more people in the
session – the less time available for one-on-one assistance.
I’ve given trainings for 15-20 people and this essentially
becomes a lecture style course: I don’t believe
that’s the best method of delivery.
Often
times, the client
has only 1 console, but more than 2 people to train. Trainees who
can’t sit and work at the desk essentially
“audit” the course. Learning a console or media
server really requires hands-on time. I don’t recommend
having more than 2 people per console, but I understand when the client
would like to have additional employees audit the course. Please bear
this in mind when scheduling your trainees.
- Do you offer classes outside of Los Angeles?
Yes.
I've given trainings globally. My class has been translated
in multiple languages. For sessions outside of Los Angeles, client is
responsible for all travel costs, lodging and per
diem.
- Can I get a quote?
Yes.
Use
the form below to contact me.
All training fees are due
on the first
day of the session. For sessions outside of Los Angeles,
client must pay for all travel expenses before travel is
booked.
